Helping Carnatic and Hindustani Singers Find Their Best Voice

If you’re an Indian Classical singer struggling with vocal strain, limited range, or a lack of control over ornamentation, you’re not alone. Traditional training often immerses students in style and expression but doesn’t always address the technical aspects of singing—how to build stamina, prevent fatigue, or refine intricate gamakas with ease.

That’s where I come in.

I offer Carnatic music lessons and Hindustani vocal training that combine nearly three decades of experience as a performer with advanced training in voice science to help singers like you be the best singer you can be. My teaching integrates the rich oral tradition of Indian Classical Music with evidence-based techniques tailored to the unique demands of Hindustani and Carnatic vocal training. Whether you’re looking to fix your shruthi, expand your range, improve your breath control, or sing with greater expressivity, I provide the tools and guidance to make it happen..

Bridging Tradition and Vocal Science: My Own Journey with Vocal Technique

Although I was fortunate to have an agile, effortless voice with an extensive range, I initially lacked the technical vocabulary to help others develop these qualities. To bridge this gap, I trained at New York Vocal Coaching’s Voice Teacher Training program, gaining expertise in vocal anatomy and science-backed techniques applicable to Carnatic and Hindustani classical singing. My knowledge of Indian classical music vocal technique was later recognized when New York Vocal Coaching invited me to contribute a recorded lecture for their program.

As an award-winning Carnatic classical singer, I have performed solo concerts since my teenage years, singing across India and internationally.

Beyond performance, my passion lies in voice pedagogy.

I hold a Master of Arts in Voice Pedagogy and am pursuing doctoral research at University College London, focusing on voice technique for Indian classical singers. My work, published in leading voice journals and presented at international conferences, explores vocal mechanics and compassionate teaching methods—demonstrating that advancements in technique can be adapted without compromising tradition.

I aim to ensure that Hindustani and Carnatic classical singers can sing better, longer, and more healthily.

LIFE OUTSIDE THE STUDIO

When I’m not singing, teaching or researching, you can find me in an aerial arts studio, rock climbing gym or on a long walk with my husband, Brad, and dog, Pippin.
